Somjai is yet another exception we were “forced” to make about the Scholarship Program’s policy. We could not keep her in the waiting list any longer. This girl is a very good student at Rattana Wittaya Kom High School.  It is her dream to become a Nurse, but she was close to leaving her studies because of poverty. Until now, every day, at the end of the lessons she would go and work as a labourer, washing clothes for the people of her village, this to earn enough to allow her to go to school.

Orphaned by her father, her mother remarried and is not taking care of her. Bee is living with her elder sister who is married and the mother of a small baby. Her elder brother also lives with them. Bee’s school marks are excellent, and we are confident that she will take this opportunity very seriously.

Bee’s brother in law is the only source of income for the family.  They are all living in their grand-parents’ home.  Bee’s brother in law works as “dek pump.” This means he is working at a petrol pump with an income of about ? 3.000 a month. Care to help us out?
