I have previously already written about Pek. He is now attending Surin’s E-Saarn College and getting good marks. Of the 25 students from our Ratchapat Project, he is one of the few to have a sponsor. The other lucky one is the beautiful Wirawan (Noi).
In Surin, Pek met Anuchit (Aof), a boy from Ban Phai who attends the same College and whose family has very big financial problems. Aof lives with the father, a sister, and a younger brother (both students at Rattana Buri High School). The mother left them all a long time ago.
Pek brought Aof’s case to us. Aof is studying animal rearing, which is essentially the equivalent of what Pek is doing for the agricultural field. We decided to help this young man as well, also thinking ahead and keeping in mind the chance to include him in our Gandhi Agricultural Community’s work. Both Aof and Pek may even be working, or co-operating with us in the future. Of course, in four years (the length of their studies), many things could change. However, we strongly believe that is not wrong to “invest” in these young people, mostly for their sake, but for Sainam’s as well.
As already mentioned, thanks to the generosity and the good heart of our new friends project such as the Rice Mill, Ban Khennoi School, and Soondek Sainam are settled and this allow us to concentrate and focus on the main part of our work (and budget): the Scholarship Program. I really care about the Ratchapat’s students, because I am well aware that their fate and destiny could really be decided in these vital years. Their futures could literally be determined by the difference of a few Euros! |
