Santhisuk is a boy living in Ban Chong who is really close to becoming blind.

The boy lives with his grandmother after having been abandoned by both parents. Already from our visits to his school we noticed something was wrong with him. After having discussed this with his teachers, we decided to bring him to an Optometrist, hoping that a pair of glasses might be able to solve the problem.

 Unfortunately, it didn’t.  So we brought him to the Surin hospital.  But, once again, the results have been really bad. The doctors didn’t give him much hope, but they gave him a big lens which will at least help him to study and read.

In any case, we will try to bring him to some more “efficient” hospitals either in Bangkok or Korat for further check-ups.

We asked for his grand mother’s agreement. The old lady was happy about it, but asked us to wait until the school is over, this means next year, mid April.
