This time we are on people’s side with the “SAINAM SAOPANA KIT”, another “no cost” program we just started (by request) to help and protect our people. What is this you may wonder? It is simply a “village insurance,” which will give our people some support in case of a family members’ death.

It works like this, when some SAINAM SAOPANA KIT’s family member dies, all of the insurance members will give this family ฿ 100. This will allow them to have enough money to cover the funeral costs, and have a small kind of “lifesaver”.

This kind of insurance is very common in our villages, and there is practically one in every village.  However, the problem in Ban Naudom arose when those in control of the existing one refused the membership to the new dwellers of the Moo Baan and several other poor people.  These are the same people who opposed us during the Ban Naudom School project; they are the rich and the “powerful” in the village, and they don’t necessarily care about the poor people, our people.

So Nang, Sisak, Boonta, and others came to us and asked us to help them out once again, to give them this kind of “lifesaver.”  We obviously obliged, and we are just happy to lend them a hand, to give them equal rights, the rights every human being should have even though he may be a poor laborer or farmer.

We don’t really care if we clash once again with the village’s ruling class, and we really don’t, because since we started Sainam we just wanted to be on the people’s side, on the poor and needy people’s side.  So we will organize the SAINAM SAOPANA KIT for them, Sainam will have no gain and no loss in it, only the poor people will have some benefit, and this is all that matters!
