The Rice Mill, a project supported by the EMBASSY OF SWITZERLAND in THAILAND, is now operational and has started its work.  The trial period is finished, we obviously had some “tuning” problems in the beginning, but now it is working like clockwork!

On April 17^th, we had the Monk’s blessing ceremony which, in fact, allowed us to start the Mill’s activity.  Now it is fully functional and working on a daily basis.  However, the project’s “final curtain” will be when Ban Sainam and the people of Ban Naudom will have the honor to welcome the Swiss Ambassador in Thailand, Mrs. Christine Schraner-Burgener, to our humble village.  As of now, this official inauguration is scheduled to occur in the first week of June.

We originally planned a simple ceremony (Sainam style), but the word spread and the arrival of the Ambassador is creating quite a buzz in the area. It appears that even Surin’s governor has requested to attend- he is actually the highest political power in the whole Province! Who would have thought that Sainam could mobilize these kinds of people?

We and our people have no words to express our gratitude to the Swiss Embassy, we hope we will be able to “throw and unforgettable party”” for them!  We are certainly all looking forward to it.
