THE LANG ROT PROJECT

We, at Sainam Foundation, don’t believe in charity, we don’t believe in handing out free money to people. Maybe it is because we don’t want a “flock” or need votes.

We do believe in word and dignity, and we are convinced that dignity could be achieved through employment and self-support.

I can, very honestly, tell you that if you shall come now to Ban Naudom you may not see much poverty around and you may even think I have been telling you lies for the past 3 years. But I can assure you that the improved conditions of our village are a consequence of its people’s work. Sainam found the way to give them jobs, they took the chance and improved their life, a lot! You may even see nice little houses, and people living a very decent life, this was and still is and always will be our goal! Mission accomplished.

And this is the base to introduce our new idea, once again to give work to our people, most precisely to our young people.  We plan to build, in what is becoming Sainam’s centre close the Rice Storehouse and the Rice Mill, a small car workshop where about 5 young people of our village will have the chance work.  They will wash cars, change oil, make small repairs, and change the wheels.

This is how the project will be working:

Sainam will build a small structure where the boys will work. We will not pay them they will have to earn their salaries, it will be rent free but at the end of every month after having paid the salaries and all bills, the remaining money will be donated to Sainam.

It is a way to incentivize the young people around us to work and not to hang around without anything to do or, worse, wait for the politicians’ handouts! We already have 4 unemployed young people who will be lead by Mann, an adult who already has experience in this field.

They are ready to work, we are ready to start but…we don’t have the money to start building the small structure. As per Ban Ban’s school we already wrote to our friends asking to support us for another small but yet very useful project for our young people.

Obviously we haven’t yet found a sponsor for Ban Bon School, but now the LANG ROT SAINAM will be on top of our priority list!
