In this world of ours, full of sorrow and troubles, dreams may still come true! I am writing about our farmers’ big dream. If you have been reading this newsletter, you shall already know that for 2 years they dreamt about having their own rice cutting machine. Several times they came to us asking advice on how to buy it, with some economical plans which, frankly, never seemed to make much sense at the time, hence we always had to “kill” this dream. This was until I had the greatest of luck, and I met a few people who made it become reality.
Now Sainam will be able to buy our Gandhi Co-operative a rice cutting machine. We received a donation of € 50.000 which will allow us to proceed with the purchase, and thus really complete our work with the Co-op. We have been requested not to mention the name of the Private Foundation who will finance this extremely important project. We now can consider our work with the Gandhi Agricultural Co-operative completed. After having gathered them together (now we have 315 members), purchased two tractors, built the Rice Storehouse (thanks to Italo Zali and his friends the “Lupi di Mare”) and built the Rice Mill (thanks to the Swiss Embassy in The Rice-cutting machine shall be delivered to our village on July 28. Thanks to everyone involved in our three years work with our farmers. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts! Your help has really been vital, and it means a lot for our people. |
