THE FARMER’S CO-OPERATIVE is a gathering of local farmers. Over the years, Sainam has acquired 3 tractors, 2 rice cutting machines, built a Rice Storehouse and a Rice Mill. The co-op currently has 458 families members. Recently, on September 20 a third Rice Harvester was delivered to the co-op.

THE ORGANIC FARMS Sainam has 4 Organic Farms. Two in Ban Naudom (Sainam’s Village), one in Ban Phai and one in Khampaeng Phet Province. We are promoting clean and pesticide free agriculture while trying to implement a policy of self-sustainment. Fifteen people are working in our farms. An addition to this project was the recent construction of an Organic Fertilizer Production center.

ASSISTANCE TO SMALL FARMERS : we provide help and support to small, local farmers who also want to utilize their land during the “non-rice” season. We started with two pilot-projects. If these will prove to be successful we are ready to help more farmers and expand the project.

THE CARE PROGRAMassists sick children, adults, and the elderly who have been left to care for themselves. The program intends to provide medical care and food supplements to needy individuals and families.

There are 48 beneficiaries in the CARE program.

THE SOONDEK SAINAM This project is aimed at protecting small children who are often left unattended by their parents or guardians in their houses or huts.

The project takes care of about 24 small children who are looked after by three housemothers.

THE ANIMAL REARING COOPERATIVE Sainam provided 0% loans to 15 families (the co-op members) to start an animal rearing business. We have “pig farms”, “chicken and egg farms” and “insect farms”.

THE JOE’S CAR CARE It is a small car workshop which gives employment to few young people in our village. The Workshop was recently expanded to cope with the increased demand by either the co-op member and “external” clients.

THE PEOPLE’S SAVING BANK (AOMSAP SAINAM) That combines the meager life savings of the people who join, and so form the co-op which will also provide personal loans at very low and affordable interest rates, thus saving our people from money lenders and loan sharks.

We currently have 218 families in the co-operative

SAOPANAKIT SAINAM (VILLAGE’S INSURANCE)

It is a village life insurance, which will give our people some support in case of a family members’ death. At present the insurance has 200 member families.

THE WOMAN’S GROUPwho are preparing and sewing clothes and manufacturing school uniforms and t-shirts.Sainam is, in this way, trying to relieve the families of some financial pressure.

Through this group, Sainam is trying to optimize the Thai silk production already practiced by the older ladies in the villages using a very traditional method. Sainam is trying to bring development in a harmonious way that is fully respectful of the local culture and tradition, trying to avoid bending to the rules of consumerism.

THE BAAN RAO PROGRAMfinances the construction of new houses for families who are homeless or extremely poor. Sainamhas so far built 24 brick houses for very poor and needy families in various villages in the area.

This program is currently suspended because of Sainam’s financial problems. We can build new houses again only if we receive a specific donation, a new house will soon be built in the town of Rattanaburi.

THE INCOME GENERATING PROGRAMaims to provide needy families with an interest-free loan for small family businesses. There are still 20 beneficiaries in the program. The I.G.P. is currently suspended because of Sainam’s financial problems.

THE SAINAM RESORT The goal of this project is to provide new job opportunities for our people, in our villages, and to have some financial return to Sainam Foundaiton as well. We built two traditional Thai Shaped houses among the rice fields, close to Ban Sainam. We already had few guests who left extremely happy about their experience in Isaan.
